The Answers You Need

FAQ

Who is CSA perfect for?

CSA is perfect for people looking for delicious, fresh, healthy food that has grown locally in an environmentally responsible and sustainable way. You will benefit from knowing your farmers and joining us on this journey to take the power back. You will appreciate changing seasonal food from a ‘farmer’s choice’ selection each week, which will be accompanied by information to support you in trying new recipes and exploring new tastes.

Who might not benefit?

If you aren’t very adventurous with trying new foods and prefer specific items each week or if you aren’t available for a regular weekly collection for the season, then CSA probably isn’t for you right now. That’s ok though – perhaps get back to us if your situation changes or recommend us to a friend who you think might be suitable.

Can I customise my order?

Although we can’t offer customised boxes, we will be trialing a weekly swap box. This is a box we will bring along with a couple of extra goodies available for swapping between members. Of course, we always encourage you to give everything a go but if you NEVER want to receive a certain item in your box (perhaps you’re allergic to it or really really dislike it) then send us an email to let us know and we will try our best to accommodate.

What happens when I go on holiday?

CSA is an advance commitment to buy food so we have lovingly grown it from seed and nurtured it, often for months at a time, before it’s ready for you to eat. When you go away on holidays the plants will already be in the ground so, to avoid waste, we don’t offer breaks part way through subscriptions. However, travel is awesome! So when you are away from home, we are happy for you to nominate someone else to collect on your behalf. Perhaps a friend, family member or house sitter could put your veggie box to good use for you. Alternatively, we can donate any uncollected boxes to a local charity, just let us know which you prefer.

What if my circumstances change and I need to cancel my subscription?

Signing up to our CSA subscription is an advance commitment for the entire 13 week season. As is the case with going on holiday, the seed has already been purchased, the plants are already growing in the ground and we have already invested a large amount of time, energy, love and care into looking after them. Therefore, we are unable to cancel subscriptions part way through the season unless this has been pre-agreed with us and we have someone else waiting to take over from you. If your subscription is cancelled by us, you will receive a full refund for any pre-paid boxes we haven't supplied.

Can I share with a friend?

Absolutely! If you don’t need a whole box every week, a great option is to share with a friend, family member or colleague. You might decide to split the contents of the box between you each week or each pick up once a fortnight instead.

Are you on social media?

Yes we are! Follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for the most up to date info on what's happening behind the scenes at Hunters Garden. You can click on the little icons at the top and bottom of the page to take you there. PS We also love it when people tag us in photos!

Who is Hunter?

We often get asked this but Hunters Garden actually started back in 2013, as the name for Todd's suburban veggie patch on Hunter Street in Vancouver, Canada. We kept the name to document our garden adventures together around Australia between 2016-2017 and it has gradually evolved into our current business from there. From little things, big things grow!
